Finding My Vibrational Being by Jeffrey Migdow, MD

My first experience, as a vibrational being was when I was six years old and began looking deeply at the flowers in my mother's garden. I noticed when I focused intently, the flowers, not only looked very alive, but their colors became vibrant and started to vibrate is if they were connecting their colors and essence with me. I spent many times that summer, gazing at the flowers and feeling deeply connected with them. My other experience was with the stars and planets in the night sky, which I felt very connected to, and had a feeling sense of the planets, moon, and constellations, especially Orion. And a deep connection to the star Betelgeuse, the red star in that constellation always made me feel uplifted and joyful from the age of 6 years old.

I lost that experience at around 8 years old and didn't rediscover it until 19 when I began a yoga practice. A friend gave me the Iyengar book, Light on Yoga, and I began practicing from that book. I noticed when I would be very present with my breath in the pose, especially postures such as shoulder stand, warrior, bow, and posterior stretch I felt the vibration flowing through my body. A deep tingling as if becoming one with the posture itself. This reconnection with my body let me rediscover the vibrational aspect of the night sky, the planets, and Betelgeuse, after all those years. Since then, I've had many experiences with aspects of nature, trees and flowers, rocks, boulders, stars, people, yantras, and planets through the meditation of tratak, or gazing, and begin not only to see and feel the vibration of the object, but feel the vibration of myself and the deeper connection to my pranic being.

Due to my love and yoga and wanting to share this with others, I became involved with Kripalu Yoga in 1976 and moved to the ashram in 1970. Being fascinated with prana and presence, I was drawn to Kripalu Yoga as its basis was being present with sensations in the body and the breath. I lived in this yogic community from 1980 until 1994, practicing holistic medicine and Reiki from 1980-1991 and directing and managing Kripalu yoga teacher training from 1991-1997. This lifestyle and being involved with a daily practice of asana, pranayama, and meditation, and the teacher training, deepened my experience of prana in all aspects of life.

In 1991 I developed Prana Yoga and began the teacher training with Priti Robyn Ross in 1997. In Prana Yoga we chant the chakra bij sounds in the postures, leading to a deeper, more profound experience of presence and the flow of prana through the body. The training lasted until 2021. During these years I deepened my understanding of the flow of prana and our vibrational beings. Professionally, I have practiced homeopathy, a vibrational medicine, since 1979 and Reiki since 1987.

This article has reminded me that I have been fascinated with the experience of vibration and prana since a child, which has grown over the decades!

In this workshop for yoga, teachers and yoga practitioners, we will discover, discuss, and experience ourselves as vibrational beings through movement, breath, meditation, and sound, and also through the practice of meditative gazing, tratak, so that we not only feel our vibrational self in the yoga practice, but feel that deep pranic connection with other parts of nature, in our day-to-day life, which is so important at this time for health, vitality, conscious awareness, and bringing in more light to humanity!
