Join long-time teachers Ravi Singh and Judy Weaver for this inspiring two-part workshop and discussion.
Trauma is trending in the wake of the pandemic's collective upheaval. Judy, who has gained wide recognition for her unique ability to guide her teachers and students to achieve their full potential, is the founder of Connected Warriors, a nonprofit that is dedicated to providing trauma-conscious yoga to members of the military and their families. Together with Ravi, Judy will provide powerful but eminently doable techniques to turn trauma into the high drama of personal and collective transformation.
The 45-minute practice will be followed by a discussion of Yoga Unify, a nonprofit participatory network created by yogis for yoga. When Ravi and Judy met in 2019, they discussed how a new paradigm is needed for yoga—a model that honors standards without standardization, promotes lifelong learning and study, and honors ethics and community, qualification over certification. Thus, Yoga Unify was born.
Yoga Unify considers the practice as a whole and practitioners at every level to provide a supportive blend of governance and guidance that honors ancient wisdom while meeting modern needs. As both an individual career path and benefit for the collective good, the yoga industry is largely unregulated, which can lead to inaccessibility, inequity, and unsustainability. Yoga Unify was created to engender a course correction. Join Ravi and Judy to learn how Yoga Unify is upleveling the yoga profession.

Ravi Singh has been teaching Kundalini Yoga in New York City and beyond for 45 years. He's the Author (with Ana Brett) of The Kundalini Yoga Book - Life in the Vast Lane as well as 26 DVD's/streams. In 2018, Ravi was asked to be on the Yoga Alliance Advisory Board for Teacher Training Standards because it was seen in the yoga world that too many Teachers were becoming certified who weren't necessarily qualified. Thus, a course-correct was in order. Judy Weaver was also on a separate council. Judy Weaver is a yoga teacher living in South Florida who has gained wide recognition for her unique ability to guide her teachers and students to achieve their full potential. In 2007, Judy met Beau MacVane, a strapping 6’4″ Army Ranger, who after returning home from his fifth tour of duty in Iraq, contracted Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Beau asked Judy to teach him yoga so he could stay as strong and connected to his body as humanly possible as he fought his terminal illness. Over the next several years Judy watched in awe as Beau was able to use her instruction, and his determination, to battle the decline of his physical body. What arose was a mental focus and a self-awareness that changed them both. When Beau passed away, surrounded by his loving family and friends, he left with a peace of mind more powerful than any physical limitation. Judy’s passion in offering her skill to the military is dedicated to the Warrior Spirit of Beau MacVane and his family. Judy went on to found Connected Warriors, a non-profit that is dedicated to providing trauma-conscious yoga to members of the military and their families. Connected Warriors has just opened a trauma treatment center in South Florida.
