Fascia is one of the latest buzzwords these days in health and yoga. We will uncover
some of the newest understanding behind myo (muscle) and fascial anatomy and how we can thoughtfully apply this to yoga teaching and our own practice. Fascia is all about connection, in the same way that yoga (yuj) is about joining things together and the relationships between them. Myofascia also responds well to multidirectionality and different types of movement dynamics. Join veteran yoga teacher, author, and anatomist Lauri Nemetz in learning and taking myofascial movement into practice on the mat and into our daily yoga beyond. Whether you are a seasoned instructor or a passionate practitioner, this workshop will empower you to deepen your understanding and enhance your yoga practice.
You will learn:
- An introduction to the anatomy and function of fascia as it is currently understood, including its role in movement, overall well-being, and different life stages
- Techniques for integrating myofascial awareness into yoga practice
- Strategies for teaching myofascial principles to your students (anatomy into asana!)
- A mindful approach to movement, enhancing connection to the body and its innate wisdom.
Recommended props: two yoga blocks, a yoga strap, one yoga blanket, a small ball if you have one, and layers for changing temperatures. These tools will support your exploration of myofascial dynamics and help create a comfortable environment for your practice.
NOTE: Club Fit has limited props and no blankets, so please bring your own if you have them.
Please be aware that we cannot control the temperature of the studio at Club Fit, and it can run cold. So please dress appropriately in layers and bring a blanket, hat, socks, etc. if you are sensitive to the cold. Thank you for your understanding.
This workshop will be held in-person only; there will be no live Zoom feed or recording.
